Season 9 Kicks Off in Australia! | 02-01-2010

Dizzo picked up where he left off last Season with a dominant victory at the Australian Grand Prix last weekend. The Ferrari driver was only headed during the pit-stops and was joined on the podium by the Williams of <AvA>Rotate and the McLaren of f15active. The first race of Season 9 was contested by the biggest ever field of drivers and was highly competitive.

While the top 2 drivers had relatively plain sailing, f15active had to fight hard for his podium spot, leapfrogging AndrewF1 during the pit-stops. Though there was no further overtaking, the leading pack had to battle their way through lots of traffic, and the gaps shifted to and fro throughout the duration.

The battle for fifth place however was intense; Borgy41 and newcomer EAO_Sawtoe battled for literally the entire race, trading places and paintwork. The battle culminated in a final drag race to the line, with Borgy41 only just managing to retain fifth.

In seventh was the other Ferrari of Allyc4t who had to recover from a first lap incident at turn 3. He fought back with strong pace and snuck past <AvA>Daza in the closing stages, who was also placed in a difficult situation with a fuel miscalculation in qualifying. He only just managed to hang on to 8th and round out the points from a charging JesterF1 despite spinning just short of the line.

Round 2 of the F1A Championship Series will be contested this weekend at the Sepang circuit for the Malaysian Grand Prix. The series then takes an extended 3 week break before resuming early next year.
